WORKSHOP: StoryBeads: A Storytelling Workshop for Beginners

Room 1810
Leader: Debra Ting

If the moments of your life were beads in a necklace, perhaps you would find some sparkling jewels, a few rough stones, and maybe a few pearls of wisdom. Through playful exploration and oral sharing, we will begin to mine your precious gems and develop your own stories to tell.

Objectives: To help beginning storytellers discover and develop their own personal stories through a fun and interactive workshop. Participants will leave with the beginnings of several personal stories, ideas for developing more, tools for outlining their stories cohesively, oral practice, and visual reminders for outlining their tales.

Debra Ting specializes in spinning warm, comforting, and thought-provoking tales for adult audiences. Her stories are both old and new, personal or traditional. Listeners have said that Ms. Ting is “a gifted storyteller,” “down-to-earth, humble and authentic.” They have said, “Debra’s stories speak to the heart and soul.”
