ONLINE: How Can Stories Address the Climate Emergency?

This session at the Yorkshire Festival of Story features two Minnesotan storytellers, Nothando Zulu and Jack Zipes, plus Margaret Read MacDonald.

From the festival website:

“Storytellers and folklorists have breathed new life into traditional stories for millennia. But now that we are faced with one of the most urgent threats ever experienced by humankind — the climate emergency — how do we readjust these stories in response? Can storytelling help us to comprehend the situation — and even heal the earth?

To help us answer these burning questions, we are honoured to welcome back to the festival, our friend and eminent fairy tale scholar Professor Jack Zipes. Jack will be joined by the author of over 66 books on folklore and storytelling, Dr. Margaret Read MacDonald, and the president of Black Storytellers Alliance, Nothando Zulu.

Don’t miss this special opportunity to join these world-leading story experts and convene with story lovers from across the globe in this compelling event celebrating the power of storytelling in the face of adversity.”
