MPLS: "Helen's Troy" by Megan Wells

  • American School of Storytelling 1762 Hennepin Avenue South Minneapolis, MN, 55403 United States (map)

This nationally traveled Tour-de-force is a riveting and relevant reimagining of the ancient epic.  The Trojan War, Homer’s famous prose poem, has been predominantly told, re-told, filmed and written through masculine sensibilities.

In the hands of award-winning storyteller/actress/playwright Megan Wells, the bones of the story remain true to the classic versions. Thrillingly though, the heart and action of HELEN’s TROY opens the story soul to the feminine sensitivities.

A hybrid of theater and storytelling – Megan knows this story but does not follow a written script – she spins the tale anew with each audience so that the experience is deeply akin to Homer’s original form.

Helen’s Troy has been featured to standing ovations at Island Theater on Bainbridge Island, American Theater in Rockford, Oak Park Shakespeare Festival, National Storytelling Festival as well as multiple theatrical and storytelling venues.
