What’s in Store: Workshops

Master the Craft: Over the course of five engaging workshops, you’ll learn the art of storytelling from a diverse group of expert instructors. From crafting compelling plots and unforgettable characters to perfecting your performance, our hands-on sessions cover it all.

Meet Your Instructors: Our series features 3-4 dynamic instructors, each bringing their unique storytelling flair. Benefit from their diverse perspectives and gain invaluable insights into the art of writing and performing stories. Current list of instructors includes Mark Pagan, Chuck Johnson, and Cindy Salo.

Interactive Learning:

Week 1: Aug 21: Basic rules of storytelling + participants workshop “the lifespan of a personal object” – instructor Mark Pagán

Week 2: Aug 28: Structuring a story + participants share a revised outline of their stories – instructor Mark Pagán

Week 3: Sept 4: How to start/how to end + participants share stories and receive feedback – instructor TBD

Week 4: Sept 11: Performance prep/best practices + participants share stories and receive feedback – instructor Chuck Johnson

Week 5: Sept 18: Final insights about storytelling formats + participants share “final” versions of stories and receive feedback – instructor Cindy Salo

Then, The Grand Finale! On Wednesday, October 2nd, showcase your newly honed storytelling skills in front of a live audience. This is your chance to perform your story and receive feedback from our judges and peers.

We’re adding an extra layer of excitement with audience interaction! At the end of the performances, the audience will have the fun challenge of voting on whether each story is fact or fiction. Plus, the audience will vote for the overall winner—the storyteller who delivered the most captivating and engaging performance.

Join us for a night of creativity and connection. Network with fellow storytellers, celebrate your achievements, and enjoy the rich tapestry of stories brought to life.

Fees: $15 per workshop, or just $50 for all 5 workshops
