MPLS: World Storytelling Day - "Bringing Them All the Way Home"

  • Landmark Center 74 W 5th St. St. Paul, MN (map)

On or around March 20 each year, storytelling happens worldwide.

The World Storytelling Day theme this year is MYTHS, LEGENDS, AND EPICS, and our annual event at Landmark Center is focused on the epic struggle of veterans coming home to healthy, meaningful life. Odysseus took 10 arduous years to return from the Trojan War. There are real life veteran legends like Jesse Owens and Hugh Thompson, but no heroic epic in history compares to the growing cadre of women veterans who dare to stand up to the travesty of military sexual assault.

We expect at least one mystery celebrity guest, but confirmed tellers include Veterans Derek Anders-Turner, and Hector and Trista Matascastillo. Elaine Wynne, EMDR Therapist and Founder of Veteran Resilience Project (VRP) will tell, as will Mark Wagler, Founder of Northlands Storytelling Network, and Carol McCormick, veteran spouse and leader in Story Arts MN.

EVENING INCLUDES TABLING BY VETERAN SUPPORT GROUPS. For more information, or to reserve a seat or table, contact Larry Johnson, Veteran and Storyteller, at larryjvfp@gmail.com.

THANK YOU to Landmark Center at www.landmarkcenter.org for hosting this event.

World Storytelling Day is at www.globalstorytellingday.org. The inherent theme is always IF I CAN HEAR YOUR STORY, IT’S HARDER FOR ME TO HATE YOU.
