Story Club Minneapolis is a live monthly storytelling show featuring both an open mic segment and a curated set of performers from all over the Twin Cities arts scene and beyond. The Story Club stage focuses on true, autobiographical stories -- especially stories that are bold, vulnerable, unexpected, and connected to the complexity of our cultural environment...and especially voices that audiences might not get to hear in other contexts. No two Story Club evenings are ever alike, but each month when we wrap up the show, we feel like we’ve witnessed a new, unique little community coming together.

So! Starting at 6pm, audience members are invited to put their names in the hat for the opportunity to tell an up-to-7-minute story onstage. (Requirements? Has to be a story, has to be true, has to be about you!).  When the show begins, three or four tellers are drawn at random to perform, and they'll be followed by our featured guests. Does this make you want to tell a story? GOOD! (Do it! Do it! Do it!)

September’s featured performers are Pam Colby and Heather Beatty!

Pam Colby works as a freelance film producer/director and storyteller in the Twin Cities. She teaches Cinema and Documentary classes at Film North. Recently, her Moth Grand Slam winning story was featured on National Public Radio. This inspired her to mix storytelling and filmmaking in her most recent documentary, Not in My Lifetime, which was an Audience Choice winner at the 2018 Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival. You can find out more about Pam at, and

Heather Beatty is a poet, writer, soap maker and public artist. Her poems have appeared in The Paterson Literary Review, The San Diego Poetry Annual, Getrude, KYSO, Nice Cage, and other literary journals. Her public art works include The Bubblegum Poetry Machine, The Bottle Project, and a Pop Up Museum series. She performed this May as part of the poetry and storytelling show Interlocking Monsters and Friends at Nat’s Uptown Books. Heather lives in St. Paul.

Story Club’s host and producer is Amy Salloway! Amy’s been an actor, writer, storyteller, podcast contributor and teaching artist in the Twin Cities for about 18 years this time around (yes, there were previous times around). You can find out more about her at
