Story Club is an evening of true, autobiographical storytelling. Founded by Cleveland-based writer and performer Dana Norris, Story Club is a community of shows in cities across the United States and beyond, including Chicago's North Side, Chicago's South Side (Chicago is big, it seems), Boston, Cleveland, Minneapolis, and Belgrade, Serbia (they'd be the "beyond").
The goal of Story Club is to mix the spontaneity of an open mic with the experience of live theater, so our evening features both audience members and curated performers. We love new storytellers...we love old storytellers...every month we end up with a lively, welcoming, unique evening of beginners and polished artists alike.
Before each show, audience members are invited to put their names in the hat (okay, it's a jar) for the opportunity to tell an up-to-7-minute story onstage. The four storytellers picked from the jar by the host will bare their souls and talents, and they'll be followed by our featured guests. Does this make you want to tell a story? GOOD! (Do it! Do it! Do it!)
Our May featured performers are the amazing husband-and-wife team of actor/writer Jessica Zuehlke (http://www.churchbasementladies.com) and award-winning actor/playwright/storyteller Jim Stowell (http://www.jimstowell.com).
Tickets: On a sliding scale from $6 - $12, at the door or in advance.
